Jennifer Gutierrez’s winning submission to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) regionals speech competition earned her a spot in the national competition, where she represented Moraine Valley and Illinois.

Music and engineering brought Brenda Escobeda to Moraine Valley. “I was involved in the college’s community band during my senior year of high school and I really liked it,” she says. Some of her fellow band members suggested she consider Moraine Valley, so she started looking into all the programs available. “Once I found the Engineering Pathways Program, it just kind of clicked.”

“It’s gorgeous when everything’s blooming,” says Gabby Lindberg of the Shakespeare Garden where her biology class recently met.

Theresa Orr, a member of Moraine Valley’s cross country team, talks about what is most important to her as a student athlete. “After Moraine Valley I want to be remembered as hard working at practice, at races and at school,” Theresa said. “I also want to be known as a good teammate.”

Simara Romo’s future career path was aided by a pin that was caught on the bottom of her shoe as she walked through a hospital. I’ve always been drawn to hospitals in a positive way,” Simara said. “I saw it as a positive environment that helps individuals better their health.”
